Word of the Day (2-28-12) by Obiamaka Melifonwu

Good Morning Everyone

Today is Wednesday February 28th, 2012

The word of the day comes from my sister in Christ, Obiamaka Melifonwu

Joshua 10:12-14
12 On the day the LORD gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the LORD in front of all the people of Israel. He said,
“Let the sun stand still over Gibeon,
and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.”

13 So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies.
Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day.14 There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the LORD answered such a prayer. Surely the LORD fought for Israel that day!

Word of the Day (2-27-12)

Good Morning Everyone

Today is Monday February 27, 2012

The word of the day comes from Proverbs 10:4-5

He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a wise son; he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

Word of the Day (2-21-12)

Good Morning Everyone

Today is Tuesday February 21, 2012

The word of the day comes from Lamentations 3:17-24

17I cannot find peace or remember happiness.18I tell myself, "I am
finished! I can't count on the LORD to do anything for me." 19Just
thinking of my troubles and my lonely wandering makes me miserable.
20That's all I ever think about, and I am depressed.21Then I remember
something that fills me with hope. 22The LORD's kindness never fails!
If he had not been merciful, we would have been destroyed. 23The LORD
can always be trusted to show mercy each morning. 24Deep in my heart I
say, "The LORD is all I need; I can depend on him!"

Today’s Lesson: Being Bruised to be a Blessing

Have you ever had an accident when you hurt yourself? At first glance, there is barely any evidence it happened, so you don’t pay it any mind. A few hours later, you discover that the accident has left a mark or maybe a big bruise. Until you noticed the scar, you never really realize how bad it hurt, how much pain it caused or how uncomfortable it made you until you had that visual. Doesn’t feel good right? If that’s not your story, maybe you can relate to walking outside, driving in a hurry, running pass or just casually watching someone who is soliciting your help by asking, requesting or better yet begging for your help. Did you do anything about it? Did you sympathize with them? Did you roll your eyes in disgust? Did you pretend they weren’t there and ignored them? Did you say to yourself “Look I don’t have anything to give anybody”? I think we all can testify to one of the above scenarios. However, can we ask ourselves this question and give a truthful answer? “Do we mind being bruised to be a blessing”?
